Student Story – Balola Rhugendabanga Jules

Student Story – Balola Rhugendabanga Jules

I’m from Democratic Republic of Congo.

I’m a Student at Maseno University, I’m pursuing a Master’s degree, in the school of agriculture, food security and Environmental Sciences, Department of Environmental Science, through the CaReFoAfrica Project that aim is to build human capacity in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation in the agricultural sector of Africa.

It was on July 26th 2024 when I’ve received an email from Mr Linus Franke stating that I’ve gotten a mobility scholarship. I agree that I was very happy, I don’t know how to explain it, just Thanks God for this opportunity.

Thus far, my stay in Kenya is good, so fantastic. Sometimes It’s very nice when you meet other people and share with them. They are welcoming and I really appreciate. In Kenya, I’m trying to be familiar with their food; for the climate, no problem. At Maseno University, staff members are generally good, simple and kind. Our lecturers are really qualified, their experience is undoubted.

Being among the scholarship holders at Maseno University within the framework of CaReFoAfrica Project is a pleasure for me. In this scholarship mobility, I’ve met other people of two different nationalities : two Ugandans (Immaculate and Patricia) and one Beninese (Marcel), they are good people and are now my family. I like them too much.
I seize this opportunity to thank all the selection committee for the choice granted in my person and for the scholarship. Thank you to the Project Coordinator, Mr Linus Franke and all his team; to our local coordinator, Dr Caroline Wambui, for her kindness, she has always been there for us.

The former South Africa President, ‘’Nelson Mandela’’, said : ‘’Education is the most powerful weapon that can change the world’’. Yes, I totally agree. I hope to go back in my country after two years with a Masters degree and well-grounded in Environmental Science, and hence contribute to development.

Thak you.
