The Evangelical University in Africa “U.E.A.” is located on Panzi hill, in the commune of Ibanda, in Bukavu, South Kivu Province, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Created in February 1991, the U.E.A began operating in October of the same year, after receiving operating authorization by Ministerial Order No. ESU/CAB.MIN/0253/91 of September 26, 1991.

The first accreditation and recognition of first cycle diplomas were confirmed by Ministerial Order No. ESU/CAB.MIN/0313/92 while the second accreditation and recognition of second cycle diplomas were decided by Ministerial Order No. ESU /CAB.MIN/A5/175/95 of December 9, 1995. In 1997, the U.E.A was authorized to open the third cycle by Ministerial Order No. ESURS/CAB.MIN/001/97 of January 3 1997. The definitive approval of the UEA is consecrated by Presidential Decree No. 06/106 of June 12, 2006.
